Rudi Abducted! Dangers of SPOT

Posted on June 23, 2010

Just over 250 miles into the first days, ride, another BMW GS rider began following Rudi up I-24 north of Nashville. At a gas stop, the stranger forced Rudi to follow him to a house in the woods where two other people made Rudi drink Kentucky sour mash whiskey, rendering him incapable of further travel.

The crime was committed with the high tech help of SPOT. This is small GPS locater device on the motorcycle that sends a tracking signal that lets anyone interested follow Rudi’s progress (or lack thereof) every ten minutes or so. That let the criminals locate him on the road and intercept him. Rudi’s wife aided and abetted by texting his location to the roadside GS rider on I-24.

If you have no life, and want to follow Rudi, here’s the place to go:

Thanks, the Celeste, Chuck, Chip , and Martha for a great ending to the first day on the road. With friends like this, why is Rudi leaving home?
